ugh yesterday SUCKED. i had been looking forward to spending the day in baltimore with katie (whom i haven't seen since freaking MAY, and had been trying to get together with FOREVAH) so i got up super early and got all dolled up and put on a cute outfit like an idiot. so i get a text from her that says "oh sorry i forgot i have tickets to the O's game, ill call you after..." i looked up the schedule on the internet...the game didnt start until 1:35 hahah so i went over to tricia's to watch persepolis except we ended up just watching a tennis game and talking. she and sarah had the idea to just go into baltimore on our own and hit urban and american apparel and walk around the harbor until the game ended. so they went to the gym and were going to call me after. except we forgot it was fucking sunday, so the stores close early. so they were like um...we're not going. fine. so katie finally texts me at the end of the game and says she has to go home and shower real quick but we can still get dinner. at this point i was kind of annoyed because i had wasted an entire day waiting on people when i could have actually gotten shit done. well she never called so i just went to dave's with sarah and tricia and had a beer and bitched about my day. then i finally get a call from katie adn shes like "god, why havent you been picking up?!" well i didn't have any missed calls so i guess something is wrong with my phone service. awesome. anyway because of my shitty day yesterday and my long morning of work i decided to reward myself with a little shopping trip. i havent bought actual CDs in a really long time but i went to record&tape traders on a whim to see if i could get some good deals. i forgot how fun it is to actually browse.

so i got The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Y Tu Mama Tambien on DVD...and bunch of music:

Santogold - Santogold
I had seen one of her videos on mtvU and shes in those weird mtv segments during the credits of the Real World (ok i just revealed myself as an mtv addict) and i had read an article about her in some magazine (i think filter or spin) so i figured i'd give her a shot. the album is pretty good. it kind of sounds like what i imagine would happen if MIA produced a Tegan & Sara record.

The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
I had just seen a little blurb about them in NYLON which reported that one of their songs was featured in like 5 recent major runway shows including Betsey Johnson and I think that's reason enough to pay attention to a new artist. This cd is so freaking catchy, it's perfect for driving around this summer.

The Thermals - More Parts Per Million
I have their more recent album (The Body, The Blood, The Machine) which I'm obsessed with, so this is their cd from 2002. The sound is pretty much the same as on TBTBTM so I like it...only complaint is that a lot of the songs sound very much the same (same deal on their other stuff so no big surprise there)

Architecture in Helsinki - We Died, They Remixed
I have only heard one song by them (Frenchy I'm Faking) but really like it and wanted to hear some more from this intriguing little band so I picked up this sweet CD which is a whole bunch of remixes of their songs by different people. The Frenchy I'm Faking remix rules (i like it almost better than the original) and the rest are pretty cute and chill.
